Super Falcons and Bay FC forward Asisat Oshoala is reportedly close to completing a move to join Saudi Arabian-based club Al-Hilal.
The Nigerian international was one of the players who completed her medicals before the summer transfer window closed in Saudi Arabia, according to the Athletic. Asisat Oshoala is leaving Bay FC after spending just one season with the Newyork club she joined from Barcelona.
She has made 38 appearances for the team, scoring eight goals. Bay FC finished seventh in the NWSL standings in 2024 and qualified for the playoffs, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Washington Spirit. The team are currently 11th in this year’s standings after only winning four of their first 17 games.
The 30-year-old is not included in the Bay FC squad for Monday’s game against Angel City and is listed on the availability report as an excused absence.
Asisat Oshoala’s career path
The six-time Africa player of the year started her career with Nigerian clubs Robo and Rivers Angels. Oshoala then moved to Women’s Super League side Liverpool and joined Arsenal the following year.
She went on to sign for the Chinese team Dalian Quanjian in February 2017, spending almost two years with the club, before moving to Barcelona in January 2019. She had the best time of her career with the Spanish club winning five straight Liga F titles and the Women’s Champions League in 2021 and 2023
