The police in Ekiti state have arrested a man for allegedly beating his wife to death. According to reports, the accused and his were farmers in the Efon Alaaye area of the state. On the day of the incident, the man had waited for his wife to join him in the farm but she arrived late. And for that, the accused reportedly beat her mercilessly on the farm, leaving her with bruises and writhing in so much pain.
Residents say the deceased woman screamed and begged for mercy as the husband flogged her mercilessly.
The community members say after a few minutes, the man ordered the woman to get water from the nearby stream but she slumped and died beside it as a result of weakness.
Confirming the incident, the state police command spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, said the accused is in custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.
