A 68-year-old man, Ahmed Olaniyan, was rescued after falling into a well while attempting to retrieve his mobile phone at Mobolorunduro Mosque in the Molefalafia area of Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The incident occurred around 6:10 AM when Olaniyan tried to recover his phone that had accidentally fallen into the well. Despite the inherent risks, he proceeded without proper safety measures.
The Oyo State Fire Services Agency responded promptly to the distress call. Firefighters, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Adedeji, arrived at the scene and successfully rescued Olaniyan, who was then handed over to his family for medical attention. The agency attributed the incident to a lack of awareness regarding the dangers associated with entering a well without proper training.
