Rayan Cherki hasn’t forgotten Lyon’s Europa League defeat to the Red Devils and has warned ahead of the new season.
The French international joined Man City from Lyon for a fee worth € 36.5 million ahead of the new season.
Following his signing, Manchester City’s new signing, Cherki, has wasted no time sending a warning shot across the bow of rivals Manchester United.
Cherki warns rivals
The former Lyon player hasn’t forgotten the French side’s Europa League quarter-final exit at the hands of the Red Devils and has promised payback when he next faces them.
“I wasn’t happy when Manchester United beat Lyon, because I’m a Lyonnais at heart. Now, I’m waiting for the chance to play against them and knock them out,” the midfielder declared, via Abola.

Although capable of playing on the wing, Cherki prefers a central, number 10 role, and some have seen him as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, who moved to Napoli.
However, the French international clarified that he intends to forge his own path at City and even expressed ambitions of replicating Rodri’s Ballon d’Or triumph.
“I’m not Kevin De Bruyne; he’s a legend. I’m here to contribute to the team and write my own story. I hope to consistently win with the team,” he affirmed.

“Seeing Rodri win the Ballon d’Or here shows it’s achievable at Manchester City, and that’s what I’m aiming for. When I spoke to Pep, he made it very, very clear that he wanted me.”
Pep told me, “When you have the ball, you’re free.’ That’s fantastic for me because my greatest strength is helping the team. The system, the club, the city – it’s all great. I want to win, and I believe Manchester City wants to win everything,” he concluded.
