Latest update on Marc Guehi’s transfer rumour to Liverpool

Liverpool Football Club are racing against time for the signing of Marc Guehi as the 2025 summer transfer window gets closer to its end.

The Premier League Champions are in need of a center back who will be able to cover up for their first team options incase any of them gets injured. However with Jarell Quansah having joined Bayer Leverkusen, it means Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as the club’s only senior options in the position.

The hierarchy at Liverpool believe that Marc Guehi is the perfect player to fill in the void that had been left by Quansah. The Crystal Palace captain is out of contract in 2026 and there is no chance of him agreeing a new deal with the Eagles.

Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed in a post that Palace are already looking at a replacement for the England international.

He said,

“Crystal Palace enter the race for French centre back Jaydee Canvot after Aston Villa bid rejected last week. Toulouse always asked around €20m for French defender.”

However, if Guehi does not join Liverpool this summer there is a possibility that he might join them as a free agent in the 2026 summer transfer window. Liverpool supporters will hope the deal can be sorted out soon looking at the number of goals they have conceded in the opening two games of the season against Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
