The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of cannabis into Nigeria, seizing 48.6kg of the illicit drug concealed in kitchen sinks.

According to agency spokesperson Femi Babafemi, operatives intercepted 90 parcels of the high-grade cannabis strain known as “Loud” at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, August 19. The drugs had been carefully packed into three cartons of kitchen sinks imported from the United States.

Babafemi confirmed that the interception was carried out by the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation as part of the agency’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking through courier services.
