Key details of Eberechi Eze’s transfer to Arsenal

Arsenal Football Club has confirmed the signing of former Crystal Palace player Eberechi Eze on a long-term deal.

The news of Eberechi Eze was announced on the official website of Arsenal on Saturday, August 23, 2025. This signing is a reunion between the midfielder and Arsenal after 14 years.

The 27-year-old England international returns to north London, where his football journey began in our academy before he rose to prominence as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic attacking talents.

Eze made his breakthrough at Queens Park Rangers in 2016, he made his breakthrough in the 2019/20 season, being voted as QPR’s Player of the Year, before moving to the Premier League with Crystal Palace in 2020. The forward player made more than 150 appearances, with his crowning moment coming in May, when he scored the winning goal in the Eagles’ historic FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.

What jersey number will Eberechi Eze wear at Arsenal?

Eberechi will wear the number 10 shirt and will join up with his new teammates after this weekend’s match against Leeds United.

Eze sent an emotional message to the supporters of Crystal Palace via his social media account after he was announced by Arsenal.

He said,

“It feels like just yesterday I was walking through the doors joining from QPR. The day you gave me the chance to realise my dream of playing in the Premier League, for south London’s biggest club. They call us a family club because it’s impossible to truly understand what it’s like to be part of this club unless you’re in it. They’re not wrong. Throughout the challenges of the Covid times, from the day I tore my Achilles and the long road of recovery, to that night at Selhurst against Villa when I came back, up until this very day, the love you have all shown me, the way you have all supported me, and how we’ve stood together no matter what, these are things that will live in my heart forever.”

Eze’s transfer to Arsenal will go down as one of the top hijacks in football history. The forward was close to sealing a deal with Tottenham Hotspur before Arsenal went behind them to reach an agreement with the Eagles.
