Lagos Police Nab Security Guard Over ₦1.7M Burglary, Hunt For Accomplices Continues

Detectives from the Iju Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old security guard for allegedly masterminding a high-value burglary in Ifako, recovering stolen items worth ₦1.7 million.

Police said the incident occurred on August 15, when a resident returned home to find his house broken into. Among the stolen items were a Sumec generator, a Fireman generator, a National air conditioner, and three air conditioner compressor engines, collectively valued at ₦1,785,000.

Following an investigation, officers apprehended Yisa Hassan, a security guard living in the same neighborhood. Preliminary inquiries indicate that Hassan conspired with other unidentified individuals to carry out the theft. Authorities have since recovered the stolen property and are actively searching for the suspect’s accomplices.

Confirming the arrest, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson CSP Banjamin Hundeyin said, “The case will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.”
