Manuel Akanji responds to rumored Galatasaray transfer

Man City defender, Manuel Akanji has responded to the latest transfer update of an impending move to Galatasaray.

Earlier today, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano took to his social media platform to announce that both Man City and Galatasaray had reached an agreement which would see Manuel Akanji join the Turkish Super Lig side on a permanent transfer.

His post read, “Galatasaray are closing in on agreement with Manchester City for Manuel Akanji’s permanent move. £15m fee has been agreed, pending final details. Galatasaray will submit their proposal to the player in the upcoming hours to try get the deal done this week.

This report sparked a direct response from the footballer himself who declared that he was unaware of the transfer bid for him.

Fabrizio however clarified that the agreement had been between the two clubs and Galatasaray will now move to officially present their bid to Akanji himself.

His post on the social media platform X formerly known as Twitter read, “After club to club agreement, Galatasaray will make their offer to Manuel Akanji in 24h. No proposal on the table to the player yet and currently no indications from Akanji on intention to accept destination. Deal agreed between clubs, but not done with the player yet.”

It remains to be seen if the transfer would be completed as the summer 2025 window enters its final days.

What’s next in the transfer window for Man City?

Pep Guardiola’s Man City have continued to make key moves to sell off players like Ederson, Savinho and many more in a bid to create room for incoming players some of which have been speculated to be Champions League winners, PSG’s former first choice goalkeeper, Donnarumma and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
