Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor, has condemned in strong terms the brutal assault on a female corps member in Oba, Idemili South LGA of the state.
The victim, identified as Ms. Jennifer Elobor, was reportedly str!pped n@ked and assaulted by operatives of the local vigilante group, Agunechemba, in a video that has since gone viral.
Reacting in a statement on Tuesday, Mrs Soludo described the incident as “ugly, humiliating and disturbing,” stressing that Anambra is not known for such acts of shame.
“There is no justification whatsoever for such abuse,” she said. “Law enforcement must always be guided by dignity, civility and respect. The Oba incident does not reflect our celebrated identity as a humane and hospitable people.”
The First Lady further appealed to authorities handling the matter to ensure justice is served, warning that Anambra’s priceless image must be jealously guarded.
Meanwhile, the state government has ordered the immediate arrest of the vigilante operatives involved in the assault.
