The story of the 2025 summer transfer window will not be complete without the transfer saga involving Ademola Lookman and Serie A club, Atalanta.
Ademola Lookman has made his intention clear to Atalanta that he does not want to play for them again going into the 2025/26 season after he submitted a transfer request. The Nigerian international is reportedly keen on a move to join Inter Milan which does not sit well with Atlanta because they see it as empowering a potential rival in their quest to win the Serie A title or challenge for Champions League spots next season.
On one hand, Atalanta are open to letting Lookman leave the club but they are not willing to let him join another Serie A club which has been the major stumbling block in the deal coming to reality. In his own statement, he referred to broken promises and pledged gratitude to fans while seeking an amicable resolution.
