Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has confirmed that the team is yet to receive the money which was promised to them by the Federal government of Nigeria.
The Atletico Madrid forward spoke in an Instagram live video where she made it clear that the Super Falcons have not received anything from the NFF or the government.
President Tinubu appreciated the efforts of the ladies at a grand reception at the State House in Abuja following their victory over Morocco in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. He promised the Super Falcons houses, $100,000 for the 24 players, $50,000 each for the 11 technical staff, a three-bedroom apartment for each player in the Renewed Hope Estate in Abuja, and the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) for all team members and technical crew.
What did Rasheedat Ajibade say about the promised money?
Rasheedat Ajibade expressed frustration, saying, “We’ve not received our money. They haven’t paid. Hopefully, they will pay.”
She also confirmed that other entitlements like match bonuses have not been paid, calling the situation a “work in progress.
Ajibade also urged the authorities to expedite the payments, highlighting that people have been asking them for financial help. However, she remains optimistic that the team will be paid all they are owed in due time.
