MasterChef star Yanin Campos k!lled in car crash

Yanin Campos, a chef who rose to stardom as a former contestant on MasterChef México, has died following a car accident in her hometown of Chihuahua, Mexico. She was 38.

According to reports from local newspaper El Financiero, Campos was involved in a crash around 6:30 a.m. on August 2, when the vehicle she was driving collided with a parked car. Emergency services rushed her to Hospital del Parque, where she was admitted with critical injuries.

Despite medical efforts, Campos succumbed to her injuries two days later.

Her brother, Raúl Campo, confirmed the news in a statement on Facebook, writing: “To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos. The wake is at the Hernández Funeral Home for those who would like to say goodbye and join us.”

Authorities in Chihuahua have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Campos rose to national prominence in 2018 during season 4 of MasterChef México, where she finished in sixth place. Her popularity led to a return invitation for MasterChef: La Revancha in 2019. Outside television, she built a devoted fan base on social media, particularly on TikTok and Instagram.

Following the news of her death, fans have flooded her final Instagram post, a photo taken in London in 2023, with tributes. One comment read, “Very sorry for the loss, just too soon. My condolences to family and friends, and fans, may you rest in peace.” Another added, “Yanin, you will be missed, keep shining wherever you are.”

Campos’ TikTok account, which has nearly 100,000 followers, has also seen an outpouring of messages from shocked fans mourning the sudden loss of the chef and television personality.
