Club reportedly considers selling women’s team to keep Rashford

Aston Villa aims to retain Marcus Rashford, who spent the second half of the season on loan from Manchester United.

The England international has struggled to get enough playing time at Man United, leading to him being loaned to Aston Villa.

Marcus Rashford impressed Unai Emery enough during his loan spell from Manchester United in the latter half of the season that Aston Villa are reportedly willing to go to great lengths to sign him permanently.

Villa wants Rashford

According to Football Insider, via Abola, Villa are even considering selling their women’s team to secure the English international.

Having missed out on Champions League qualification, Villa will be playing in the Europa League in 2025/2026 and will need to tighten their finances.

To achieve this, Villa could follow Chelsea’s example from last year, when they sold their women’s team to avoid financial losses.

The London club managed to profit from the sale of their women’s football team to… the investment fund that owns them, BlueCo 22.
